South African Women’s National Team – #Paris2024 Campaign

The South African Women’s Hockey Team are currently on their road to Paris 2024 and have qualified for their 6th appearance at the Olympic Games this year.

They need your assistance in crowdfunding towards some of the costs associated with their participation, as outlined below. All monies raised will go towards covering flights, accommodation, meals, Visas and incidental costs incurred by the team.

Phase 1: AAG Camp – February

The team will be part of Team SA participating in the All Africa Games in Ghana from 10 to 18 March. The camp will be hosted in Pretoria to best prepare the group to be able to bring back a medal for South Africa. The costs involves flying the team to Johannesburg, accommodation at the HPC at Tuks and cover the teams daily meals. Costs for this tournament would amount to approximately R200,000.00 

Phase 2: Asia Series – March

International games are paramount to building the team and improving/maintain the level of hockey at an international level. Therefore this phase sees the team travel to Asia to play China and Japan. Accommodation will be sponsored so costs involve all travel costs and team meals. Totaling approximately R850,000.00. Flights being the teams most expensive cost incurred here.

Phase 3: HP Camp – May

Leading up to team selection will be an HP camp in Stellenbosch, this will test the squad for the selectors to be able to choose the players who will represent SA at the Olympics. Purpose is to pin point focus on the final vision for Paris. With accommodation being the most expensive component on this camp – The total for this camp comes to approximately R485,000.00

Phase 4: Pre-Olympics – June

The final step will to get the team to Europe to acclimatize and go through their final preparation phase ahead of entering the village. The team will travel to Paris to play France in an international series and then relocate to Belgium for additional training games and sessions. From there they will return to Paris and enter into the Olympic Village! Flights will be provided by SASCOC but all internal travel, pre-Olympics’ accommodation and meals must be covered by the team. A budget of around R800,000.00 is needed to help the squad achieve this.

All donations above R250 go into a draw to WIN a special edition Supporters Shirt, donations R500 go into a draw to WIN a replica 2023 SA Hockey Jersey and donations of R 1000 or more receive a double entry to the Replica Draw. For donations above R10 000 a special invitation to have lunch with representatives of the SA Women’s Team will be arranged.
